Valley Gigs: StreetFest May 2011

Once again local music and festival promoters Valley Gigs have teamed up with SheepFest to put on this annual fun day on the streets of Clitheroe.

 

Our programme is taking shape and the day promises to exceed last year's festival. All events are free so come along, bring the family and enjoy the delights of Clitheroe.

 

This year's events include:

 

  • Sheep Show – Three performances of the famous sheep show down on the Castle Fields. 11.00am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm with the grand finale – an amazing sheep race at 3.30pm.
  • Busking Competition – There will be two busking sessions 10-15 until 11.45 and 1.00pm until 2.30pm. Performers will be at various points throughout the town.

  • Punch and Judy – Three performances for all the family. Open Market at 11.00am, Castle Gates 12.30pm, Castle Keep 2.00pm.
  • Dance Sides - at various venues throughout the town including the market, castle gates, castle keep performance area and at the Market Place near the town library.
  • Decorated Sheep - Schools from around the Ribble Valley have been decorating sheep which will be on display on the way up to the Castle Keep. Absolutely Baaarilliant.
  • Stalls - Visit the Castle Keep performance area and see some of the work done by local societies.
  • Folk Music - Session music and singers welcome. Music will be on from mid-afternoon until late at festival sponsors the New Inn, Parsons Lane.
